Two items for country decor:

Primitive bye-lo baby with muslin body, firmly stuffed with straw or wood shavings and in very good condition.  Composition head and arms need work.  Jointed arms are attached with heavy wire.  Face, blue eyes, and hair are painted.  Has pinned-on muslin diaper and cristening gown with lace down center and along edges.  Doll is about 14½" tall (dress extends about 4½" below feet).  No odors.

No lid; typical wear with light rust here and there (one side is better than the other); bottom has rust spots

Put a plastic or glass container inside and use the tin as a vase -- would be great with a huge bunch of daisies as shown in the picture.

Pin is about 2" top to bottom.

Very good-to-excellent condition; top-back

edge (viewed with magnification); very slight
jewelry-box wear.

Unusual tufted table mat or antimacassar in an Art Deco style.

The word MOTHER is laid out in green squares, with lavender squares above and below, dark lavender corners, and a green-yellow-and-pink self-fringe. The background tufts are two-toned.  The tufts were woven (?) on a mesh backing. Handmade? Machine-made?

19.5" x 12.5"

Would make an interesting throw pillow.  No stains; no holes; no smoke odors (a little dusty).

Vintage original painting of
mission-style building with tile
roof and wind-blown eucalyptus
and palm trees.

This is a depiction of Presidio Park,
the home of the Serra Museum and
the San Diego Historical Society.
It was built in 1929 and occupies
the original site of California's first
Catholic Mission founded by Father
Junipero Serra and Captain Gaspar
de Portola.  The area now called
Mission Valley can be glimpsed in
the background of the painting.

The date and the medium
indicated in Item Specifics
are just best guesses.

12" x 10½"
Painting alone
is about 6½" x 5"

Last photo shows Presidio Park
as it appears today -- the
vegetation has grown quite a bit
since this painting was done.

There appears to be a signature
in lower-right corner, but it is
illegible; on heavy tan-colored
paper with a canvas texture;
oak frame looks like it was
probably homemade; glass is fine;
hanging wire at back.

There is a very thin crack in the
painting surface in the upper-left
corner (barely visible); other than
that, excellent condition; no odors.

Very old, white (slightly ecru) counterpane-style

bedspread with open-work diamond motifs

and border on three sides (the border stops

about 6" short of the top edge).  The openwork

looks like drawn-thread embroidery/drawn-work,

but it is actually woven/loomed into the fabric.

Linen with random nubby texture and

tiny dots of unrefined threads (?).

(weighs 2 lbs.- 12 ounces)

Side and top hems are turned under

and hand-stitched invisibly.

Bottom hem is faced with a finer

linen and machine-stitched.

Top corners are mitered; lower

corners are mitered and rounded.

Flat-felled seams run top to bottom
about 5" on either side of central motif.

80" x 88"

Would work for a twin or full-sized bed.

This is the style of coverlet that does not

extend over the pillow -- the pillow was

to be placed in a sham during the day.

Excellent condition; no holes or stains

(one small tear in hem facing on one

bottom corner -- easy to darn over it);

has slight yellowish stain across, below

central motif (probably could be removed

by a bleach soak); no odors; needs ironing.

Email if you need more information

or extreme close-ups of any part.

Desk cover has simple moulding detail

in the shape of an oval within a rectangle.

Has notched supports inside for shelves.

Includes two solid-wood shelves, original to

the cabinet, slightly warped (use them

them down after a while).

It is missing the drawer-base section;

width & height.

Has chip and veneer cracks in left corner of crown

moulding (see photos); missing the two, narrow pieces

but is not losing beads; a few short

strands of thread are peeking out from

knot; one strand of a tassel is shorter

and has been tied off; the other tassel

has a loop of beads up near the large

bead (probably was brokern and tied

like that); has a few wrong-color beads

mixed in (indicates probably not factory-made).

This was part of a collection of Native

American/Indian jewelry and artifacts

and is definitely vintage; maybe Mohave.

beaded rope necklace in rust-red.

¼-inch plate glass insert has a 14"

etched flower, a hibiscus with leaves and

tendrils, in a two-tone technique -- frosted-

opaque and frosted see-through.

Legs have beveled caps on upper corners and

fit into table top (held with nuts and bolts).

Sides of table are clear plastic with grooves,

with the upper edge being opaque plastic.

Overall size is 31½" x 15¾" x 14½" tall.

Has been in my possession for at least 40 years

and was old when acquired.  Not sure if it was a

mass-produced piece or a one-of-a-kind studio project.

Plastic has the typical stress marks (see when viewed
at an angle in bright light) and glue bubbles here and
there within/between the plastic; glass has one very
tiny ding in upper edge on one short side, and there
is a 1½" sliver of glass that appears to be missing
from the upper edge near one corner (may have always
been this way; difficult to notice when glass is in recess;
any glass shop could polish/grind the edges to remove
the sharpness); no scratches on glass.  Very slight wear
and scratching (has been in air-conditioned storage
for over two decades).

Taking advantage of FREE LOCAL PICKUP
is the only way to guarantee the glass will
not be broken, although if it is tempered,
it is not particularly fragile.

Japanese screen not for sale.

Probably Deco-era, c.1920's - 1930's.

About 45" x 57"

Fabrics are fairly heavy and

look like rayon; the backing

is quilted turquoise satin.

Rectangles of various fabrics: pleat-like or

shirred texture in some; others are grosgrain

ribbon-like; some are shiny, some matte;

some are water-stained (in case you are not

familiar with that term, it does not mean

actually stained by water; it's a satin or satin-like

fabric that is woven to create a moire effect).

Colors are white, beige, blue, turquoise,

pale yellow, fuchsia, green, peach, pink, and

mauve, in pin stripes and wide stripes.

Could be used for a crib quilt, but may

have been intended as a lap blanket.

Padding is very thin; top is slightly

oversized for backing; stitching is sound.

Weighs a little under 2 pounds.

Very good condition with a few very

minor, small stains; no holes; no odors.

Vintage lamp made from ceramic

Satsuma vase mounted on

rosewood (?) Oriental stand

(vase sits in recess cut into center

of stand).  Slip decoration and

gold diapering within hand-

painted figures/shapes (a Samurai?

Geisha?) plus flowers on the back.

Colors are dark green, moss green,

maroon, gold, light blue/sky blue,

Chinese red, on a tan background.

Uniform, fine crazing.

14" to top of vase; 16¾"

to top of porcelain socket insert.

Has unusual tin cone that fits

within neck of vase.

Original octagonal/octagon lamp

shade has four embroidered panels

and four pleated panels.  Fine red

silk covers needlework sections

which show as shadow shapes when

illuminated by the bulb.  Silk is worn

in places, especially on top (the gold,

metallic-braid trim could be removed,

and the silk could be replaced).

Shade is about 9" x 14¾" at

bottom; about 8½" tall at front.

Unusual to find the lamp and shade together.

Lampshade is intended to sit on metal

contraption which needs to be reconnected

(soldered) to vase cap (four little holes

accommodate the four metal legs);

someone has added a harp base (harp

not included) under the socket, so the

lamp could be used with a new shade.

Cord is about 80" long (not original); two-way

switch works fine.  Lamp in excellent condition,

with exceptions noted above.

Lamp and shade will be shipped in separate
boxes, so please do not rely on the eBay
USP shipping calculator.

Sweet illustration of a woman in a rocking chair, embroidering a cross-stitch Home Sweet Home motto.
She is surrounded by all the icons of the Victorian era -- a tambour table, a delicate chair with needlepoint
covers, draped passageway with fancy spindle divider, statuary, a painted saw with a ribbon bow, corner
what-not shelves, lace curtains, an oval picture frame with a folding fan stuck behind it, a pug dog
on a pink cushion, patterned carpet, and another Home Sweet Home motto in a cross-corner picture frame.

Artist was Reginald P. Ward.

About 12½" x 14½"

Mounted on a tan background (not peachy like first photo looks; more like second photo), in an old frame
(brown and black; typical light wear) with slightly ripply glass; wire hanger at back.
No odors.  Weighs 2 pounds.

This is a Pepsi promotional item,
©1978, that was displayed
at a fast food restaurant (Burger
King? Wendy's?) in 1977, in
association with the upcoming 50th
anniversary/birthday of Mickey Mouse.

Probably a fairly scarce item --
maybe the only one left - ???

It is heavy cardboard shaped like
the Disneyland castle, with Mickey,
Donald Duck (holding balloons), and
Pluto gazing up at the open window,
above which is a banner saying
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICKEY.

I can't remember what, if anything,
was in the window, but it might have
been a display of the prizes handed out
for each Pepsi purchase (there is no
platform; not sure there ever was one).
On the back, the window is "closed"
with a sign that says:

BUY A PEPSI AND GET A BIRTHDAY COIN

There are two folded pieces of cardboard
inside that act as hinges -- pull the front
and back apart and push the folds out
to keep the structure open.

Can be placed over a child
as a photo setting, and would
make a good stage for a kid's
puppet show.

35" x 60"

has been in storage for thirty years;
a few minor bumps on edges; minor

Slightly textured, c.1980 print of a Victorian

A very nice cigarette box in high-quality glass (heavy, very clear, no bubbles, no striations) set into a brass

5-1/8" x 4-1/8" and about 2" high with the lid on

It's not easily noticed, but a couple of the curved uprights are separated top from bottom -- they are still very
sturdy and immovable. Vase insert looks like it holds about 10 ounces of water.  Flowers not included.

This hand-painted botanical-study/

botanical illustration/specimen

painting is on tissue-like paper,

possibly mulberry paper (nubby,

thready, off-white) which is affixed

at the upper corners to another

sheet of the same, obviously-

handmade paper, which is

attached with tape hinges to a

sheet of something like heavy

manila cardstock.  Great skill is

demonstrated by the subtle detail

in the crest of the flower and the

little buds at the leaf nodes.

There are two Asian pictographs

in the lower-right corner that may

be stamped or may be hand-printed;

the flower genus and species is in

cursive in the lower-left corner.

It appears to read CELOSIA INOLATA,

but that species name does not show

up in online searches. The more

common name for the crested form

of this flower is CELOSIA CRISTATA.

Image area is about 11" x 14";

shipping size will be 15½" x 20"

Painting is in excellent condition (small

tear near signature); no odors.

Has a bit of a Chippendale or Eastlake look to it.
At least 40 years old.  Excellent condition.

Sepia-tone photo of very large, five-story building under construction -- government office building? university? factory?  However, note the Christian cross on the center gable.  Masonry/brick walls are completed, as is the gabled roof and entrance stairways, but the interior is unfinished (scaffolding can be seen inside, probably for the plasterers or painters), the window glass is not yet installed, and the building is surrounded with bare earth.  Construction crew in work clothes is posing on steps, plus a couple in a window, and two on the roof!

Photo is 8" x 10"

Three crochet squares, one with three scalloped edges (13" x 12½") and two that are stitched together (13" x 23½") and have two scalloped edges each -- the beginning of a tablecloth or bedspread?  Would make good pillow tops/centers.  Though the attached pieces "want" to fold together, they will lie flat, especially if they were steamed.  Same formal design on each, reminds me of something English, probably Craftsman-era.  Clean, no holes (pulled thread on one edge could be worked back in easily); no odors.

Four pairs of pin-on cuffs (7"-8", not
including the binding), one pin-on
collar (12" long; small tear at

of cuffs (8").

All, with one possible exception, are
hand-embroidered, Victorian/Edwardian
era, in various methods, such as cut-
work, needle lace, etc.  There is both
hand- and machine-stitching; two cuffs
have small darned spots; most are very
stiff/starched; some have mildew & other
stains; most appear to be fine linen;
one might be cotton (broderie anglaise);
another is a looser-weave linen.

Included is a padded (cotton batting),
cardboard-reinforced, silk- or satin-
covered storage folder (15" long) that
has wear on the top and on the ends
and needs the thread hinge restitched.
No odors on anything.

White circle (looks like linen) with 6" crochet lace border which has an insert of white cotton.  The tablecloth will not lie flat if stretched out (because lace edging is slightly shrunk compared to the cloth center -- lace is stretchy), but it hangs nicely on a round table (table in photo is 20" diameter).

About 44" diameter

all around, and the squares and rectangles are delineated with buttonhole stitching.

Clean and starched; at first examination, it looks unused, but there are a few stains.  Two spots of subtle gray (almost just shading), one faint pinkish spot, and a couple other very insignificant spots.  No holes. No odors.

Wood (walnut? oak? mahogany?) is exactly ½" thick and was cut with a scroll saw into ornate patterns, Black-Forest style, for this Victorian-era bracket-shelf.  A circle frame (apparently lathe-turned or carved, not bent-wood) surrounds a lithograph of men/fishermen in a row boat/dinghy in rough, stormy seas, catching a rope thrown from a larger ship.  Title of picture is pasted on the back: THE PILOT BOAT.

29¾" top to bottom x 16½" wide
Shelf protrudes 7¾" from wall

Probably homemade or cottage industry; sturdy; age cracks above and below the picture frame (the one below doesn't go thru to front) don't detract from appearance or sturdiness; finish is fine; shelf has rounded edge; very little wear; not warped at all; glass is old and ripply/striated; no odors.

Elongated brass loops hold the

rigid plastic handle wrapped

with the same material.

to surface (people used to store

patent leather after coating it with

Vaseline, so - ??); very light wear

& slight corrosion on metal parts.
